Fairground Ride

Built by Brian Elvidge

In this model I aimed to use the Geared Roller Bearing (GRB) in a model that was not a crane.

It is loosely based on one built by Ron Martin seen at the North East London Meccano Club exhibition in Hainault in December 2008.

It is about 18½" square and built up from angle girders and plates, with walkways around the GRB unit. This unit is driven by a modern high-efficiency motor and gearing system.

The centre part of this model is tricky to build and it uses a channel section part found in some of the French sets. The seating is bolted directly onto the GRB baseplate.

It is decorated with flags and includes appropriate safety rails.
