Starfish
Built by Chris Fry in September 2007 for the Natural World Secretary’s Challenge
This simple model was inspired by the shape of the recently introduced bent flexible strips. Five of these are arranged such that each overlaps the next, and are free to pivot about a bolt and self-locking nut. Holding one leg and pivoting an adjacent leg all the legs move in a fairly realistic manner.
