Contractor’s Crane
Built by Geoff Carter in March 2008 for the Braced Girders Secretary’s Challenge
From the 1970s set № 6, though Geoff’s set is one of those re-issued by Marc Rebibo when he first bought Meccano.
As the jib is very unbalanced, Geoff added a counter balance (34 5-hole strips) to the rear of it, and gave it the roller bearing first described in the 1998 limited edition Anniversary set. This has 19 part 38a (plastic spacer) placed round a wheel flange, that is bolted to a 3” pulley on the tower, with a second 3” pulley bolted to the jib.
