Impulse Motors

Four impulse motors, two with horizontal armatures and two with vertical armatures.

For each type, one model was built in Meccano from the manual and then copied (roughly) in Trix. One feature of this last model was the use of a four holed collar with grub screws acting as a commutator.

I’ve found a video of your impulse motors, but I confess I cannot see precisely how they work. I can see they harness the magnetic power of the Electrikit coil and that there seems to be a commutator, but the commutators do not appear to be working in a way I would expect, as there appear to be no isolated segments to give a change of polarity. Can you please advise of the manual in which the motor can be found, so I can go there for an explanation. Anyway congratulations on your models. They are intriguing.
