Knife Grinder

This model came from the September 1955 Meccano Magazine. It was described as an easy model to build for juniors and could be built from outfit № 2. I wanted to see some sparks to give added realism so tried sandpaper on the wheel but that didn’t work! I was then inspired by seeing the sparks produced by a train pantograph as it went over some points, and found that putting 16 volts through the model produced the desired effect.
