This was a demonstration model to show off some 3D-printed sprockets, designed to fit the crawler track that was supplied with the Meccano army kits. Because the sprockets are designed to fit what is essentially a chain, rather than mesh with another gear, the teeth have a circular profile, rather than an involute curve. However the profile is heavily truncated so that the tips of the teeth fit under the treads of the track.
