If the original instructions for this model from the 1989 set 4 manual are followed, there is no hope of it walking as it will be way too heavy for the gearing specified.
In my version I have reduced weight by removing the heavy C-type batteries and introducing more gearing. Some cosmetic and structural improvements have also been made by using parts unavailable in the original set.
