Rock ‘n’ Roll Trawler

This is taken from the 1947 № 5 Meccano manual which I constructed to demonstrate a mechanism which not only moves the ship up and down, but imparts a rolling motion to it. With a few (!) extra parts it makes a nice model. As usual The deck of the model is constructed as shown needed a certain amount of guesswork, especially at the stern.

The pitching and rolling mechanism uses two cranks on the same axis, one connected to one side of the vessel, the other to the opposite side. With a small difference between the two cranks it means that when the axle is rotated one side of the model rises before the other, thereby imparting a rolling motion to it.
